Last time the band were out on the road, there was some drama, so we’re hoping this time around goes more smoothly. When they were in Frederick, Maryland last September, there was a fight between Cro-Mags vocalist and bassist Harley Flanagan and the people he was with and folks who claimed to be with a music publication called Defy Zine, claiming they were at the Cro-Mags concert to cover the show. Both sides claimed the other incited violence, and Cro-Mags have since stuck to their story that they were not the instigators.

The Cro-Mag’s special statement read at the time of the incident:

“Local business owners have since come forward with similar experiences involving the couple from the magazine and are currently cooperating with authorities during the investigation. The FBI may become involved as threats of violence and death have been received across state lines.

“The victims pressed charges the morning after the event and the assault is currently being investigated by the Frederick, MD Police Department.

“Harley wishes to state emphatically, “the idea of assaulting a woman is reprehensible to me and it didn’t happen and it wouldn’t happen.”

This time around, Cro-Mags will definitely be wary of anyone claiming to be with local music media if they suddenly turn up at a show.
