Look Out, Weebs: HEALTH Has a ‘Waifu Dance Team’ in Their “Children of Sorrow” Video

Do you like cute anime girls? Are you a fan of menacing industrial noise rock? Does the prospect of Lamb of God’s Willie Adler being featured on a track make you more interested in it? If you said yes to any of those, then the latest music video from HEALTH is right up your alley.

Earlier today, the Los Angeles-based experimental/noise rock/industrial outfit debuted a new music video for the song “Children of Sorrow,” featuring Adler, over on anime streaming service Cruncyroll. And while that would be a strange thing to do in and of itself, it’s also the introduction of the band’s animated “original Waifu dance team.”

The characters, named Sakura, Hitomi, and Rio, can be seen dancing along to the brooding, dark, and heavy track. Bassist, composer, and anime fan John Famiglietti introduced the trio in a Q&A over on the streaming platform’s website.

“Let me tell you what entertainment is. Violence. Sex. Friendship. Death. Surprise. Betrayal. Dancing. The HEALTH Waifu dance team are so sexy that if you see them enough times, you might faint. When you see it, you won’t be able to fight the temptation of wanting to dance with them!”

This isn’t the first time that Famiglietti’s love of anime and anime culture’s seeped into the Rat Wars album cycle. Last October, the band released a music video for the track “Ashamed (Of Being Born)” where Famiglietti is seen gallivanting around Anime Expo and DragonCon cosplaying as a Neon Genesis Evangelion character in a skin-tight vinyl suit.

Famiglietti said he’s encouraging fans to come out to shows in their cosplays, even going so far as to say that he hopes to document as many costumes as he can during the upcoming North American tour.

“With this tour, we’re really really pushing it. Like we put out a video just really encouraging people to wear your con outfit, your cosplay, or whatever you want to the shows. Because we’re gonna have a videographer at every show and we’re going to document all the best outfits and put them all up on our socials. This tour is going to be a party.”

Speaking of that tour, HEALTH will be going all over the place in North America starting on March 2 in Ventura, California and coming to an end in San Diego on April 6. The full list of tour dates can be found below, along with a couple European stops slated for this June.

Oh and don’t worry they’ll have double sided body pillows featuring the band members and the anime girls for sale at the show. I know what you want, you mongrels.
