Enforced Covered Obituary’s “Deadly Intentions” and It’s About as Badass as You’d Expect

Richmond, Virginia’s hometown band of BAMFs Enforced are known for their ripping thrashy crossover fury, but what happens when they dip their toes into some classic Florida death metal from the likes of Obituary? Well, you get one hell of a fuckin’ cover track.

Within the last hour or so, the band behind last year’s War Remains posted a video for their cover of “Deadly Intentions,” originally from Obituary’s classic album Slowly We Rot. Rather than do a one-to-one take on the song, you know Enforced took it and tried to do something uniquely their own. And what we got from the final cut is a sharp, almost dangerous rendition of the track.

Frontman Knox Colby revealed that the cover was recorded as the band was working on War Remains, which is why it feels like it would be right at home on that record.

“We recorded this track for fun during the recording of War Remains. Obviously being big fans of Obituary, we wanted to fuck around and do a deep cut that any fan would enjoy. Love the band, love the guys, love the song, it was just a joy to record.”

Seriously, you guys really ought to check this version out. And while you’re at it, give War Remains another listen. It remains one of the more unapologetic takes on modern crossover thrash. If Enforced ain’t on your radar after that, then…just… what the fuck?
