Exclusive Premiere: Clarion Void Channel Darkness and Despair with “The Bottom”

Clarion Void have darkened the skies above with their latest crushing and destructive track, “The Bottom.” You can check out the exclusive stream of the song with us only.

The Colorado Springs, CO-based blackened doom band are at it again, sharing the single ahead of their forthcoming album, Failure in Repetition, out officially via Lost Future Records on March 1.

The record, which according to the band is a reimagining of the Myth of Sisyphus, is raw, droning, hypnotic, and a lot of fun. For those not familiar with the mythological reference, some major recurring themes are depressive topics like the futility of progress. This song is one of the many crushers the album has produced, and it’s a great sampling of the rest of the record.

Failure in Repetition was produced by Greg Wilkinson (High on Fire, Pallbearer) at his Earhammer Studio in Oakland, CA. The band consists of Greg Mullenax (guitar/vocals), Bryan Webb (bass), Evan Courtland (guitar), and James Ivy (drums). This record follows on the heals of their 2023 debut Deafening Sounds of Mortality.

The single “The Bottom” is one of the foundational moments on the album, which builds as a whole concept throughout the record’s 10 tracks, utilizing riffs and melodies that cycle through, coming and going at different times in different songs.

Mullenax says about the song:

“‘The Bottom’ is technically the first act before ‘The Top.’ It’s the first song we wrote for Failure In Repetition and kind of spawned the idea of the album having repetitive chord progressions over and over again.”

You can preorder Failure in Repetition now from Lost Future Records. Snag it now.
