Cops Arrest Joyce Manor Fans for Moshing, Further Proving They Hate a Good Time

0

Yes, people just got arrested for moshing, and no it wasn’t at a slam show or something that would make sense. It was at a Joyce Manor show.

The Southern California-based band are more along the lines of indie and pop punk. They’re a strong example of their genre, but still, it’s hard to believe that this was the heaviest show happening in Jacksonville, Florida on any given night.

This happened on the first night of their tour with Porch Coffin and Glazed at Collective Con, an anime convention at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. Given what happened next, we’re assuming the convention center authorities weren’t familiar with the benign nature of moshing at a pop punk show.

Allegedly, security was trying to calm things down during Joyce Manor’s set, and then they got on stage durning the song “Constant Headache.” The show was then shut down, and police dispersed the crowd, even arresting some people. Naturally, videos of this have been surfacing on social media.

Far From Home Records, based in Orlando, chimed into the conversation to express that they were not happy with the treatment of fans during the shutdown:

“can’t believe cops just started taking random fans to the ground at the Joyce Manor show tonight, forcefully shoving them into cops cars just because they got bumped into IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PIT and people weren’t clearing out fast enough. ACAB ACAB ACAB ACAB ACAB ACAB ACAB ACAB

“Saw it being shut down a mile away because they kept telling the crowd to calm down but went overboard so fast. Infuriating to see one of the smallest and calmest dudes there being picked on by the cops just because they got lumped in with the crowd.

“People started stage diving even after the security dude was grabbing them and taking them aside so like I sorta get it (even though it was fine) but biggest mistake was the cop just patrolling in the middle of the crowd and yelling at fans that were bumped into bumping them.

While as far as we can tell from these preliminary reports, no one was seriously injured, folks are not happy with police actions at first show of the tour.
