Looks Like Megadeth’s Buenos Aires “Big Surprise” is a Livestream Event

0

Last November as Megadeth was announcing their big ol’ Latin America tour set for this April, frontman Dave Mustaine told the world that the band was “planning a really big surprise” for their show(s) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Citing their massive fan base down there, he said it made sense to do something special over there.

Speculation went wild, as it’s wont to do on the internet. People wondered if Marty Friedman was going to officially rejoin the band — something that Mustaine personally squashed later. Some wondered if another live album was being recorded there. Now it seems those things and so many more were dead wrong, as it was announced earlier today that they’d be livestreaming both sold out shows around the world.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. This is probably a major disappointment to you, but surely you can see why this would be a better surprise than seeing Friedman back in the band despite him personally saying he never wanted to be in a band again. And besides, now you’ll get to catch the show live without having to travel insane distances to do so.

According to the band, the livestream event will take place on Veeps, which is a livestreaming platform for concerts and whatnot started by Joel and Benji Madden (yes, the Good Charlotte dudes). Through Veeps, fans can watch the concerts from the comfort of their own homes, with tickets for each show set at $14.99 or $24.99 for both. Veeps All Access subscribers get to watch the shows for free. Naturally, exclusive merch will also be available for the shows. Individual ticket holders will be able to rewatch the concert for seven days.

If you want to catch the shows as they happen, they’ll take place on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 at 9 p.m. Argentina Time (ART), which is just one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time, three hours behind GMT, and four hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time.
