Re-Portnoy-ed Dream Theater to Tour Europe This October

0

With their 16th album getting closer and closer to completion and the return of drummer Mike Portnoy creating some nuclear hot expectations for the band’s future, Dream Theater already have a lot to celebrate in 2024. Add in the fact that it’s their 40th anniversary year, and you’ve got the perfect excuse for the band to take that excitement out for an international run of live shows.

For the first time in 14 years, James LaBrie, John Myung, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, and Jordan Rudess will once again share a stage when they kick off the European Leg of their ‘An Evening With Dream Theater’ Tour this October. Set to begin on October 20 in London and coming to a close on November 24 in Amsterdam, the highly anticipated tour will his 23 cities along the way, giving fans in each locale a chance to take in some old favorites, as well as potentially some new bangers, from the classic lineup.

With an eye to the newly announced dates, Dream Theater as a band issued a statement expressing how much this first run of dates means to the band, given their ability to span four decades.

“This tour is going to be incredibly special for all of us! Each show will surely be filled with anticipation and a variety of emotions. We can’t wait to step on stage together once again and begin this historic celebration of 40 years with everyone this Fall. This is just the beginning, and we will have plenty of more exciting Dream Theater news to share in the coming months.”

“News to share in the coming months,” you say?? I mean, we all know a new album is coming, so that’s gotta mean more tour dates, right? It’s a little conspicuous that the tour heading below says “2024-2025” and that this is being called the European leg. It’s almost like they’re planning more tour dates at a different part of the world or something…

Either way, this is some exciting news for prog metal fans across the Atlantic! Here’s hoping we find out more about those other dates soon. If you’d like to see where the band will be playing later this year, be sure to find the full list of dates below.
