Bullet For My Valentine Posts Photos in Studio with a Seven-String Guitar

0

Big news for fans of Welsh metalcore giants Bullet for My Valentine as the band is apparently in the studio working on their eighth record, the follow-up to their 2021 self-titled album. The band posted pictures of themselves in the studio on Instagram with the simple caption:

“Here we go again. #bfmv #bulletformyvalentine #Vlll”

While fans were excited to hear that the band was working on yet another album, there was more excitement about a particular instrument in the photos, as the photos show what seems to be vocalist and guitarist Matt Tuck (although it’s hard to recognize him with short hair) holding what is very clearly a seven-string guitar.

While veteran guitarist Steve Vai is credited for the popularization of the seven-string guitar, with the first mass-produced seven-string having been Vai’s signature model the Ibanez UV7, it became the basis for much of the nu-metal sound in the 2000s thanks to Korn guitarists James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch.

That nu-metal sound isn’t something that Bullet for My Valentine has ever been associated with, so the appearance of a seven-string guitar in their studio photos suggests that the new record might see the band taking on a new sound.

Meanwhile, 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of BFMV’s debut album The Poison, and they’re heading out on the road in both Europe and North America next year with Trivium to celebrate 20 years of both The Poison and Trivium’s album Ascendancy. Check out both bands on the following dates:
