Sharon Osbourne Hates Free Speech, Blasts Coachella and Kneecap for Pro-Palestine Message

0

Just when you thought Sharon Osbourne couldn’t be any less serious than she actually is, she goes and tries to take money out of the hands of an Irish rap group with a fucking spine and a message she doesn’t like. Because that’s exactly what she’s trying to do when she calls for the revocation of Kneecap’s U.S. work visa after their pro-Palestine message at this past weekend’s Coachella performance.

The inciting moment that caused Sharon’s granny panties to get all up in a twist happened at the end of Kneecap’s set, where they projected a message on stage that read the following:

“Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people. It is being enabled by the U.S. government who arm and fund Israel despite their war crimes. F**k Israel; free Palestine.”

That one message, blasted in front of thousands of concertgoers caused Sharon to go to Instagram and pen an angry screed at Kneecap and the folks behind Coachella, the whole time vomiting forth Zionist talking points aimed at silencing free speech that doesn’t fall inline with Israel’s narrative of a just reaction to the horrific October 7 attacks perpetrated by Hamas.

“Coachella 2025 will be remembered as a festival that compromised its moral and spiritual integrity. Goldenvoice, the festival organizer, facilitated this by allowing artists to use the Coachella stage as a platform for political expression. Kneecap, an Irish rap group, took their performance to a different level by incorporating aggressive political statements. Their actions included projections of anti-Israel messages and hate speech, and this band openly support terrorist organizations. This behavior raises concerns about the appropriateness of their participation in such a festival and further shows they are booked to play in the USA.

“Reports indicate that Goldenvoice was unaware of Kneecap’s political intentions when they were booked. However, after witnessing their performance during the first weekend, allowing them to perform again the following weekend suggests support of their rhetoric and a lack of due diligence. Scooter Braun, who has been involved in organizing the Nova Music Festival exhibit—a tribute to the victims of the October 7th attacks in Israel—has defended Goldenvoice CEO Paul Tollett as he attended the Nova Exhibit. If Tollett visited the Nova exhibit, he would have seen the portraits of every person that was killed that day and heard some of their voices on cell phone recordings, sent home to their loved ones. It is difficult to comprehend how if somebody saw this exhibit firsthand that they could book a band on their festival that is in support of what was done that day and supports the group responsible for this mass murder.

“Not one IDF solider was killed that day, just 1400 innocent civilians. The Independent Artists Group, which represents Kneecap, includes individuals of Jewish heritage. It is disheartening that they have not used their positions to prevent the promotion of such controversial messages. As someone with both Irish Catholic on my Mothers side and Ashkenazi Jewish heritage on my Fathers side, and extensive experience in the music industry, I understand the complexities involved. I urge you to join me in advocating for the revocation of Kneecap’s work visa.”

Ignoring the fact that what they posted was based as fuck and 100% accurate, it’s important that being from Belfast and Derry, Northern Ireland, the dudes in Kneecap have a regional connection to “The Troubles”, which was a time of conflict and violence. That all came to an end in 1998 through the Good Friday Agreement. Sure, it’s not Israel and the IDF, but maybe the fact that Sharon’s a 72-year-old English woman with Jewish heritage and these Irish lads had the balls to say something that she disagreed with had something to do with her hostility, too.

But it’s her willingness to purposely conflate the concept of pro-Palestinian and pro-Hamas that’s particularly dangerous and problematic. One can be in support of the Palestinian civilian population that’s been purposely starved and bombed for hundreds of days now, while still condemning Hamas and their terrorist attacks. To mix the two just further seeks to dehumanize an entire population that’s been suffering under the boot of the IDF for decades.

When you couple all that with the fact that she’s trying to kill a band’s ability to make money and support themselves and their families just because she doesn’t agree with their political views… that’s a problem. But just like Disturbed’s David Draiman, she likely doesn’t see that as an issue because she’s hyper rich and powerful.

The devastation that’s gone on in Gaza since the October 7 terror attacks committed by Hamas has been horrific. Though no one in their right mind should ever try to justify the murder of Israeli civilians that took place that day, it’s no stretch to call Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s response one of the more brutal acts of collective punishment against a civilian population the world’s seen in a long time.

We at MetalSucks want to take the time to condemn the terrorists in Hamas and the Israeli Defense Force’s militaristic response on a civilian population in equal measure. Of course the murder of roughly 1,200 Israelis on October 7, 2023 is unforgivable and a response was necessary. But the killing of approximately 51,000 people (most of which are women and children) and the complete or partial destruction of more than 90% of the building in the Gaza Strip is a completely disproportionate response.
