Split Chain Unleashes Exhilarating Single and Video “Subside”
Nu-gaze quintet Split Chain dropped a brand-new single today “Subside” along with an exhilarating music video directed by Zak Pinchin. It’s the latest song lifted from the band’s forthcoming debut studio album motionblur, and is packed with thrashing screams and the ultimate nu-metal staple: sensually groaned lyrics. Honestly, what’s a nu metal track without that?
The music video is shared with a deep blue color grade, creating a lo-fi, nonchalant aesthetic, something that’s often resonant across both shoegaze and nu-metal bands.
Speaking about their new single, frontman Bert Martinez-Cowles said it’s all about calling out the assholes in your life.
“”Subside” is a call-out song to the antagonists in everybody’s life. It’s a break out from the judgmental, close-minded people who consistently try to bring you down to their shitty level. ‘Subside’ is the realization that you are under no obligation to anyone and owe nothing to any of those people. Free yourself from the dead weight in your life and allow yourself to grow past them so you can thrive and live life in a way that works for you.”
motionblur is due out for release this July. Right now, the band is wrapping up the last few dates of their North American tour, featuring Silverstein, Tarantula and Teenage Wrist as support acts.
