Organectomy Robbed While on Tour in France, Crowdfunding Effort Launched

It’s gotta be any touring band’s worst nightmare. You’re in a foreign country, you’re playing some shows and things are going well, and then BAM — all your shit is stolen. Passports, merch, cash, gear, just gone while you sleep.

That’s the situation New Zealand brutal death metal outfit Organectomy find themselves in. While currently on tour in France with Crypta, Aborted, and The Zenith Passage, they had all of those things, along with laptops, cameras, and other personal effects, stolen. The wild thing is that those items were taken out of their van, which was also where they were sleeping for the night. Somehow the thieves managed to break into the van and take the shit without waking anyone up.

Over on their Instagram page, they let their fans know exactly what happened in a statement.

“As you may have seen, in early hours of this morning some absolute scum robbed our van while we were sleeping in it, taking two bags containing passports, crucial gear, merch cash as well as expensive personal items right from under our noses.

“As you can imagine being a support band on tour on the other side of the world this is a huge set back for us and the unfortunate reality is that we will probably never see any of it again.”

Talk about nightmare fuel. Without their passports, they’ll have a hard time traveling around Europe or getting back home. Without their gear, it will be hard to perform shows and earn their living. So in a bid to help be made whole and to hopefully continue on their way, the band launched a crowdfunding effort. On their GiveALittle page, they posted the following statement about the incident:

“In the early morning hours of Wednesday May 7th after playing a show in Lyon, France with Aborted, Crypta and The Zenith Passage we were robbed in our sleep. Two backpacks were stolen from the front of our vehicle just a few feet away from where we were sleeping containing 2 passports, 90% of our cash from selling merchandise on the tour so far, an SPDSX Pro which was running all of our click tracks and backing tracks, a laptop, in ear monitors, a Canon R50 camera with extra lenses and Alex and Levi’s clothes and personal items.

“This is huge set back for us and we are realistically probably not going to see any of it again so please, if you can spare anything please help us recoup some of these costs!”

The band is looking to raise $11,600 and have already collected just under $6,600 as of this posting. If you have the means, be sure to head over to their crowdfunding page to help however you can.
