Over a Thousand Faces Will See a Creed Car in the Indy 500 Try to Overcome Other Racers

In what may be the one of the most on the nose marketing efforts on the planet, Creed is going to be plastered all over a super expensive IndyCar for the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25. The only thing that would be better is if it was Nascar instead, but I digress.

The combination of divorced dad butt rock and super fast racing cars happened thanks to a collab with Meyer Shank Racing through the team’s SiriusXM partnership. Piloted by Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvis, the No. 60 Honda will feature a black and orange (or what they’re calling “papaya”… it’s fucking orange) livery featuring the band’s logo, among all the other sponsors slapped onto the car.

Members of the band will be at the race for the first time ever. Which you’d probably expect, given it’s not every time you get a band’s name on a race car, though it’s happened a bunch over at Nascar. The band said in a press release they were excited for the opportunity.

“We are excited to attend our first Indy 500 this Memorial Day weekend. Seeing this incredible car in person will be a highlight for us. Can’t wait to be there with all the fans to cheer on Felix and the entire Meyer Shank Racing Team.”

As for the Meyer Shank Racing Team, their co-owner Mike Shank had his own packaged statement to add to the mix.

“It’s awesome to have Creed join us for the biggest race of the year. SiriusXM has been such a great partner in helping us bring new energy and personality into the sport through music, and to bring a band like Creed to the Indy 500 is something that we’re really looking forward to.”

According to the NTT IndyCar Series standings, Rosenqvist is currently sitting in eighth place, effectively placing the car just a little more than six feet from the end of the starting line… give or take a few car lengths.

So who knows? What if the driver goes higher than expectations and stands with arms wide open on the podium when it’s all said and done? You can find out by tuning in to FOX on May 25 at noon ET.
