Black Flag Unveil Photo of New Lineup; Promise “Exciting Season” of New Music
We all know Black Flag has been through it in some way or another. Despite whatever is going on with the founding guitarist Greg Ginn and the drama he finds himself in, he is making sure the band perseveres. They’ve officially revealed what their new lineup looks like, and it may not look like what you think. There’s nothing wrong with that though…
Joining Ginn in the band is Max Zanelly on vocals, Bryce Weston on drums, and David Rodriguez on bass. These new members appear to be young as all fuck, but let’s not write them off for that. They’re here for a fuckin reason, and good on them.
In addition to sharing what the new Black Flag is looking like, the band shared a statement via a press release from Ginn’s SST Records. It reads:
“With a fresh lineup and renewed creative energy, BLACK FLAG is gearing up for an exciting season of live shows and new music production. The group has already begun writing and rehearsing together, building on their signature sound while embracing new influences brought in by the latest members.”
“BLACK FLAG’s upcoming performances will showcase the chemistry and talent of the revitalized lineup, giving fans a first taste of the new era.”
Honestly, more power to them. Even if it doesn’t look like—and it most obviously doesn’t and hasn’t for a literal ever—the Black Flag we’re used to, let’s see what these fools can do. I’m sure they’ll surprise us in the best way. Coming from the heat that the band had with singer Mike Vallely for years, along with Charles Wiley and Harley Duggan rounding out that lineup, it might be hard to follow up. Let’s give ’em a chance, though. This new Black Flag package is heading out on tour starting next month, so be on the lookout for when they hit your city.
