Sick Of It All’s Lou Koller Reveals He’s Beaten Cancer
Fuck yeah, man! Finally some good news to share with the metal and hardcore community, as Sick Of It All frontman Lou Koller took to social media to announce that he’s officially cancer-free. Seriously, fuck cancer!
In a video posted on social media, Koller gave a nearly minute-long update on his health. We’d known since this past March that if any news were to come out about his fight with cancer, it would be announced this month. Thankfully, his statement was a positive one in the end.
“Hey everybody, what’s up? I got some good news for everyone. I got my test results back — the scan results — I mean, and it turns out, it looks like there’s nothing left, no more cancer. So I’m officially cancer-free right now. Thank God for that. And thank you all for your positive vibes, your prayers, all your well wishes. Thank you so much for all your support. And I’m really happy about this, now I can get on to trying to get myself back to normal, cause of this chicken neck and all this stuff. And thank you, that’s all I can say. I’m really happy.
“I still have to go for a new scan every six months for the next couple years to make sure it’s still out of me, but as of now I’m cancer free. Thank you everybody so much.”
Having been battling esophageal cancer since his initial diagnosis last June, Koller has been very vocal about what he’s been going through. Multiple chemo treatments and surgical procedures later, it sounds like his chances of permanently beating this thing could be in sight.
As he said in his announcement, just because he’s in the clear right now doesn’t mean he’ll necessarily remain cancer-free forever. Remission could cause the disease to come back at a later date, though obviously everyone should be pulling for remission not to rear its ugly head.
That being said, all of us at MetalSucks want to offer our congratulations to Koller, as well as our sincere hope that he remains cancer-free for the rest of his life.
