Rise Against Announce First Album in Four Years, ‘Ricochet,’ New Single Streaming Now
Rise Against are returning with their first album in four years this August! I can’t believe it’s been that long since they dropped Nowhere Generation into the world. It just doesn’t feel right. But alas, it really has been four years since that record saved a lot of our boredom during the global pandemic.
Ricochet is scheduled for release on August 15 and is Rise Against’s 10th studio album. So it’s fair to say, a lot of their fans, including myself, are expecting big things. Alongside the announcement, the band has shared the first track, “I Want It All,” with an accompanying video.
Speaking about their forthcoming record, Rise Against rhythm guitarist, Tim McIlrath, shares,
“Ricochet is about our collective inter-connectedness. We started with the title track and that being about how we’re all — whether we like it or not — stuck in the same room, so to speak. Everything you do is going to affect somebody; everything you throw will affect the next person. We’re connected to other countries, other economies; we’re connected to undocumented immigrants. We’re connected to every decision our leaders make. It’s all one big ricochet effect. That idea is the backbone of this album.”
The album was crafted by some pretty major names in the industry. Including producer Catherine Marks (Beware of Darkness) and Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Paramore, Queens of the Stone Age), who mixed the record.
