Dave Mustaine is Tracking Vocals for Megadeth’s Next Album
It’s been no big secret that Megadeth‘s been working on their follow up to 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! for a while now. Hell, we were told that they’d be done with it this year. And if a recent social media post by Megadeth mastermind Dave Mustaine is any indication, they’ll meet that expectation pretty soon.
In said post, Mustaine is pictured standing at a microphone, ostensibly laying down vocals for the band’s 17th studio album. The caption provided by Mustaine reflects as much, stating: “Vocals started. It won’t be long, now!” Typically, vocals are tracked at the tail end of the recording process, as it makes sense to lay down the musical groundwork before hand.
Once complete, it will be Megadeth’s first album to feature new guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who was selected to replace Kiko Loureiro back in 2023. It will also be the first to feature bassist James LoMenzo, since he came on to replace Dave Ellefson, following a real bad scandal that resulted in his ousting from the iconic thrash outfit.
As for Megadeth’s non-recording plans, they’re set to open for Disturbed on their upcoming European tour. That run starts this coming September, but you can find the full list of dates below.
