Malevolence Forced to Take Down “Salt The Wound” Video Over Bureaucratic Bullsh*t
It wasn’t long ago that English metalcore quintet Malevolence released the video for their track “Salt The Wound” off their forthcoming album Where Only The Truth Is Spoken. It was a visually striking clip, with sweeping vistas mixed with stark performance clips here and there. Nothing offensive to be seen in the video at all. Yet leave it to bureaucrats to ruin everything.
In a recent post on their Instagram page, Malevolence announced that the video was forced to be taken down by the U.K. National Trust. For those that don’t know, that organization claims to be “Europe’s largest conservation charity, we look after nature, beauty and history for everyone to enjoy.” The issue? They filmed on a public walking path, I shit you not.
“SADLY OUR LATEST VIDEO FOR ‘SALT THE WOUND’ HAS BEEN FORCIBLY REMOVED FROM THE NUCLEAR BLAST YOUTUBE CHANNEL DUE TO THREATS OF LEGAL ACTION MADE BY @nationaltrust.
“APPARENTLY PRETENDING TO PLAY THE GUITAR FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS ON A PUBLIC PATH THAT THOUSANDS OF TOURISTS WALK UP EVERY SINGLE DAY IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE WORTH PURSUING. ATTEMPTS WERE MADE BY OUR TEAM TO FIND A RESOLUTION FOR THE SITUATION, WHICH HAVE BEEN ENTIRELY REFUSED.
“THE VIDEO IS A CELEBRATION OF WHERE WE COME FROM AND WE’RE PROUD OF WHAT WE MADE.
“FORTUNATELY…. SOMEONE HAS ANONYMOUSLY UPLOADED A VERSION TO BACK TO YOUTUBE.. YOU CAN WATCH IT NOW AT THE LINK IN OUR BIO THANK YOU ALWAYS FOR THE SUPPORT.”
However, all of that was for naught — at least for now — as a YouTube user hilariously named Trust Issues has downloaded and reuploaded the original video on their page. It’s not clear exactly how long such a defiant move will remain on YouTube before the U.K. National Trust comes after that page as well.
