Tool is Working on a New Record
Remember how there was a 13 year gap between Tool‘s two most recent records, 10,000 Days (2006) and Fear Inoculum (2019)? That kinda sucked, right? Well, it’s looking like the dudes in Tool agree, as they’re apparently working on their next follow up.
Details of their efforts were brought up when frontman Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Adam Jones were interviewed on Loudwire Nights earlier this week. Though they were initially on to talk about their participation at ‘Back to the Beginning’ last month.
During their conversation, new music was brought up and Keenan revealed that the band was “writing, I guess.”
Jones chimed in shortly after that, elaborating a little further on where they’re at in the writing process.
“We want to get another record out and play, do what we do.
“The three of us have been jamming. I don’t know if you go, oh, the writing process has started. It’s always there. Between preparing for an upcoming tour or whatever we’re doing, there’s points where someone goes, oh, I got this and I got this. But I think we’re going to dive deep soon.”
Jones later said that he’s got “lots of riffs” and that the band will take them, put them together, and hopefully use those as a backbone for new music.
Does that mean we can all collectively hold our breath until new Tool music gets previewed sometime soon? Not really. These guys are known for taking their time with their music, so we’ll see it when we hear it, I guess.
