Lamb of God Get Down and Dirty with “Sepsis”

0

As promised earlier this week, the first new track from Lamb of God since they released Omens back in 2022 dropped moments ago. And while it’s easy to sometimes fall into the trap of hyperbole, I gotta say — this new track is pretty damn badass.

Titled “Sepsis”, this new track is fucking dirty and grimey in all the right ways. This isn’t your typical Lamb of God groove metal offering, mind you. This track is heavy as all get out, sure, but there’s little bits here and there that really stand out. Panic chords like the kind you’d hear in a Dillinger Escape Plan track are featured in “Sepsis.” Vocalist Randy Blythe doesn’t just scream his face off, but he employs an interesting delivery that kinda furthers the dirty feel of the track.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Lamb of God don’t absolutely fall into their traditional sound, either. A little over two minutes into the track and we’ve got the sort of riffs and attack you’d expect from the legendary Richmond outfit. I can just imagine how the pits are going to react to this shit. It’s going to be biblical, I’m calling it.

According to guitarist Mark Morton, the track pays homage to the up-and-comers in their area that push the genre forward.

“’Sepsis’ is a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn the Priest. Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger—though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time. The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together.”

So yeah, check out the track below. If you’d like to see ’em play live, we’ve got a list of their upcoming shows below.
