Volbeat’s Michael Poulsen Reissues the Albums of His Previous Death Metal Band Dominus
It’s always interesting to learn about our favorite rock stars, like what their influences were, what jobs they worked before becoming a professional musician, and what bands they might have played in before striking it big. For fans of Volbeat, Asinhell, and Michael Poulsen, at least one of the answers for that last question was a death metal band called Dominus.
For those of us that don’t know this (and there’s a lot of us), Dominus released four albums: 1994’s View To The Dim, 1996’s The First 9, 1997’s Vol. Beat (that looks awful familiar…), and 2000’s Godfallos. As the years went on, those releases got increasingly difficult to find. I mean, Volbeat was making crazy money hand over fist, so who cares about Dominus, right?
Wrong. Poulsen still cares, hence why the albums have all been remastered by Adam Boose at Cauliflower Audio and are currently streamable on your favorite digital streaming platform. With the reissues now out, Poulsen had this to say about their release:
“Some of you might know that back in the days I had a death metal band called Dominus. We released a couple of demos, I believe, 30 years ago and a seven-inch vinyl, and we did have four albums out. But that was from a time with no Internet and social medias and all that [crap]. That was street credibility, street work, exchanging flyers, demos, cassette tapes and supporting underground magazines.
“I truly miss those days. But listen, those recordings will now be available on your favorite streaming service, whatever that is. And hopefully the next plan will be to release those things on vinyl, something I personally would love to do. Back in the days, it was only out on CD, and, as I said, personally I’d like to change that and make them available on vinyl.
“But that’s another story — it’ll come later. For now, you can get them on those streaming services that you use. Dominus, support it. Have a good day. See you soon.”
So there ya have it. You can check out each of those albums via streaming right now. Go nuts.
