Gojira and Landmarks Honored at First Ever Ceremony Dedicated to French Metal
I hope every country does this, because justice and recognition for all metal! Les Foudres, the new award ceremony specifically dedicated to French metal, was held on Thursday, October 9 at the Bataclan in Paris. Gojira, Landmvrks and Alcest were among the winners of the night.
Les Foudres roughly translates to “lightning” and “to feel someone’s wrath,” so that feels like quite the appropriate name. A total of 12 awards were given, in some pretty typical categories like Album of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Gojira took home some pretty big ones, including the Foudre for Live Performance of the Year for their performance at the Carcassonne festival over the summer, as well at the ultimate Foudre d’honneur, which I think is pretty similar to how American award shows honor specific artists for their achievements. Landmvrks won Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been. Revnoir, who also performed at the ceremony, found themselves with the award for Revelation of the Year, whatever that is. Check out the other winners below.
