I’m not going to take up too much of your time here. I was out of the office the last two weeks, hence the lapse in this series. We’re back though, so it’s all good. In the meantime, you can check out these releases in between your Kiss binge listening sessions.

Biohazard

Divided We Fall (BLKIIBLK)

Theyyyy’re baaaack. For the first time in over a decade, Biohazard is releasing new music and it’s featuring the O.G. lineup. Hardcore fans young and old should take note. These guys have been doing it a long time and they’re back to kick the door down.

Carach Angren

The Cult of Kariba (Season Of Mist)

Unfurling as a five-part horror story bathed in the classic folklore of Schinveld’s White Lady, this EP feature the type of symphonic black metal you’d expect from this Dutch outfit. It’s haunting at times, it’s aggressive at times, but its winding sense of narrative will keep you listening.

Coroner

Dissonance Theory (Century Media)

In for a little technical thrash this weekend? Coroner’s been doing their thing off and on since 1983 and they’ve still got a ton of fight in them. This is their first new album since 1993, so if you’ve been waiting patiently for something new from these guys, your patience is being rewarded. From what I’ve heard, this is definitely worth a listen.

Militarie Gun

God Save The Gun (Loma Vista)

Spoken of mostly as a sort of musical mea culpa for Ian Shelton, God Save The Gun continues the hardcore confessional that cruises through his hardships. It’s honest and introspective — he’s not going to blame anyone but himself, because each of his lived experiences led to where he’s at now. And it’s all led to the creation of this uniquely interesting album.

Tribal Gaze

Inveighing Brilliance (Nuclear Blast)

Equal parts heavy “fuck you energy” and searing brutality, this slab of death metal is a face check. It’s here to kick your ass, yet in the words of guitarist Quintin Stauts, it also is “trying to add something of value to the death metal world.” But it doesn’t ease up on the fury and anger. There’s plenty of both.
