OG Saliva Singer Josey Scott Releases Lyric Videos for Bobby Amaru Diss Tracks

0

You typically think of diss tracks as something that happens in the rap realm more than the metal one. That 8 Mile movie would’ve been ENTIRELY different say, if Em’s character was firing off riffs instead. Leave it up to Josey Scott, the former and refusing to be forgotten frontman of Saliva, to pull out the burn book and get to work. He just released two official lyric videos for his two new singles “Famous” and “Who?”, which are clearly shots at the current Saliva vocalist Bobby Amaru.

If we’re being fair, Scott didn’t necessarily start this song battle. Saliva’s “Hit ‘Em Where it Hurts” (which screams of Tupac’s “Hit Em Up” with that title) came out a couple months ago, seemed to be a diss at Scott.

ScatteredBrains, the Nashville producer who worked on both of Josey’s new tracks, apparently gave a little more context on the energy of the singles, saying:

“Long time coming, about 15 yrs to be exact. The first single ‘Who?’ from Josey Scott has arrived !!! I am beyond proud of this song and Josey for finding the strength to push back and push forward during a time where he’s being bullied out of his own god damn legacy, his creation, his band Saliva.

“Please listen, like, share and spread the message that there is only one real Saliva and that is with Josey at the driver seat. If the fans are ready, Josey’s ready to give yall that real shit like he never left !!! I know yall tired of watching a cover band play his music, we are too.”

When the current Saliva released “Hit ‘Em Where It Hurts” back in September, Amaru shared in his own statement saying how the song is “an anthem about proving people wrong, not with words, but with action.”

He added:

“I sincerely wish him the best, but this song is really for the fans who’ve stood by us, and for anyone who’s ever had to fight for what they believe in. To me, it’s about resilience, loyalty, and never backing down. That’s exactly what Saliva should stand for.”

Scott really can’t let it all go, and I guess I get it to a certain degree. In his eyes Saliva will always be his baby, and he doesn’t want anyone else to father it. He’s said in the past how he feels Amaru is shit-talking and treating him like a “former disgruntled employee,” and this behavior doesn’t really prove that wrong. Either way, I’m sitting here with my popcorn waiting for what comes next.
