Two More Inmates Arrested As a Result of Ian Watkins’ Murder
You’d think a convicted, monstrous pedophile’s murder in jail would be a pretty open and shut case, with most people shrugging and going about their day once the deed’s done, but nope. Apparently, people have to be held accountable for their actions involving the brutal stabbing death of ex-Lostprophets frontman and convicted shitstain Ian Watkins.
According to Blabbermouth, police arrested two more HMP Wakefield inmates and charged on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Both were placed in police custody and will be questioned today. They will both eventually be returned to jail while the investigation and trial proceed.
This new set of arrests comes roughly a week after two other men, Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, were charged with Watkins’ murder. They’re currently awaiting trial at HMP Wakefield.
Speaking about the case, senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of the Homicide And Major Enquiry Team said there was going to be a thorough look into how the fatal attack could have taken place.
“Extensive enquiries remain ongoing in relation to the murder of Ian Watkins and these arrests form part of that. Ian Watkins’s family are being updated as the investigation progresses. However, we do not anticipate any immediate developments at this stage.”
Ian Watkins was once the frontman for Lostprophets. He was eventually taken into custody over drug charges, but officials found the horrid treasure trove of images, videos, and other evidence that not only pointed to his ownership of child pornography.
He’d been arrested in 2012 and was sentenced to 35 years in jail. He’d addmitted to attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13, but pleaded not guilty to rape. He also copped to conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.
Just prior to his admitting to his crimes, Watkins’ former bandmates disbanded Lostprophets, expressing their disgust over everything.
In 2019, officials found Watkins guilty of being in possession of a cell phone that he’d hidden up his asshole. Investigators found he’d been using it from March 4, 2018 and March 10, 2018 to try to contact a former girlfriend.
All of this eventually came to a head in 2023 when he was held hostage and attacked by inmates for several hours. He’d been stabbed multiple times during that incident but he survived. Last week, officials believe Watkins was exiting his cell when he was ambushed. A source told The Sun a more detailed description of what went down.
“[Ian] was targeted by another inmate who shanked him in the neck. Guards were nearby and raced to the scene pretty quickly — but there was nothing they could do, and they could not save him. It was a horrific scene, with blood everywhere and alarms and sirens going off. Police and ambulances were called and the whole prison was locked down with all cons confined to their cells.”
Gedel and Dodsworth were taken into custody following the attack and now investigators are looking into these two new unidentified individuals. We’ll keep you up to date if anything changes.
