Kerry King’s Writing His Next Solo LP, Still Likely Chasing the Perfect Rhyme for “Hell”

The fact that more people were focused on Slayer’s spate of shows than his solo effort must have really irked Kerry King. Dude was working on that for a while before the big show came back, but here we are; those shows are done, Slayer is ostensibly crawling back into retirement, and Kerry King can get back to being a solo artist.

And to that end, it seems like he’s already working on that sophomore LP. During a recent interview with Reigning Phoenix Music’s Reigning TV (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), King discussed some of his plans for a follow up to last year’s From Hell I Rise.

”Well, it’s vague because there’s planning, there’s a record company’s perspective, but we have enough material for the next one already. I just started writing lyrics on it. I sent ’em to [singer Mark Osegueda]. He got the first song the other day. So, as long as I can get off my ass and get some lyrics happening, I would love to record before New Year’s and then just give it to the record company and say, ‘Whenever you want, there it is.’ If it becomes January, February, that’s fine too, because I don’t think we’re gonna be doing any shows. But I wanna keep these guys working because you’ve gotta keep the train rolling…”

That sort of fast turn around is pretty consistent with past comments King’s had about his second solo record. So we may just see a new Kerry King record sooner than later.

For those that don’t remember, Kerry King’s solo effort… uh… Kerry King… is comprised of Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda, ex-Machine Head and ex-Violence guitarist Phil Demmel, Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders, and Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph.

Whether he can turn around a new album for early 2026 still remains to be seen. Either way, I just hope he gets to branch out a little more with this next one.
