Stryper Release Long-Awaited ‘The Greatest Gift of All’ Christmas Album

0

Tis the season for being jolly and holly and all that good shit, and while you may not yet be in the holiday spirit, I’ll tell you some people who definitely are—Stryper. You may not have guessed how badly the heavy metal legends have wanted to toss some tinsel on their tunes and make a Christmas album, but apparently, they’ve had the holiday itch since the ’80s. Wishes granted, because they’ve just released The Greatest Gift of All and shared a visualizer for its title track. Press play below.

Styper frontman Michael Sweet commented this on the title track:

On the title track, Michael Sweet comments:

The Greatest Gift of All is an up-tempo song with a little bit of a pop/punk. It’s different for Stryper for sure, yet with the signature Stryper style. Lyrically, it’s about the greatest gift of all time – Jesus. He came to set us free and to save the world. There’s no better gift than that????”

Stryper throw back to the delight of physical gift-giving, by making The Greatest Gift of All ONLY available on physical formats like many different color vinyl and CD variants.

About the new album itself, Sweet adds:

“We have wanted to record a Christmas album for many years. Ever since we released our first single (‘Reason for the Season’) back in 1985, the fans have been asking for a full length Christmas album. Well, the time has finally come. We wanted to make an album of five traditional songs and five original songs. To put our own spin on our own Christmas album and not follow the pack so to speak. We could not be more pleased with how it turned out!”
