The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk is a Police Officer Now

It is, of course, not at all unusual for metal musicians to have other jobs, seeing as how being a metal musician doesn’t pay very well.

That being said, I’m honestly not sure I can think of any other metal musician who ended up becoming a cop. [The Twittersphere tells me that Iced Earth’s Matt Barlow is also a cop. I didn’t know this because I don’t care about Iced Earth. Apologies. -AR]  I suspect it has something to do with the anti-authoritarian bent of the metal community, as well as a proclivity for the enjoyment of illegal drugs.

And so, once again, The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk — the eleventh best frontman in modern metal — is unique amongst his peers. Because as of right now, dude is 5-0.

The New Hampshire Union Leader reports that “Seven men were sworn in as Manchester police recruits Monday,” including —

“Guy Kozowyk, 32, is a graduate of Revere High School and Suffolk University. He was a lead singer in the death-metal band The Red Chord and owns a music-management company.”

And in case you think this is all a gag or a misunderstanding or whatever:

The way I see it, this is a good news/bad news situation. The good news is if The Red Chord ever tour again and they get pulled over by the cops, having a police officer actually in the band might come in handy. And the bad news is no one can do anything illegal around him, or wear any Pig Destroyer merch.

So congrats to Officer Kozowyk on his new career! Please don’t arrest me for smoking weed.

Thanks: Ian
