From “Laid to Rest” to “Little Drummer Boy”: StubHub Mix Up Sends Lamb Of God Fans to Jesus Jam

0

A ticket listing mistake over at StubHub caused some Lamb Of God fans to unexpectedly get some Jesus in their lives last weekend, as they got a little less “Now You’ve Got Something To Die For” and got way more “he died for your sins” at a Christian Christmas concert.

The event in question happened back on December 20 at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The actual concert was Andrew Peterson’s show ‘Behold The Lamb Of God’, which is based on the musician’s 2004 concept album Behold The Lamb Of God: The True Tall Tale Of The Coming Of Christ. As you’d expect if you were forced to go to Sunday school as a kid, that show centers around the birth of Jesus Christ. Not exactly the same type of material the Richmond, Virginia metal band typically covers in their music…

Looking at a screenshot of the listing, it’s easy to understand where people could get mixed up. I mean, the band was clearly listed on the page, but it wouldn’t have been as much of a problem had the show been properly labeled as the last stop on Peterson’s U.S. tour.

In light of the mix up, StubHub issued an apology to everyone affected by the mishap, explaining that anyone that mistakenly bought a ticket could get a full refund from the company.

“We acknowledge the listing for the December 20 event at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium was misleading and apologize for the confusion this caused. Ahead of the show we updated the event page and reached out to customers to clarify the event details. Anyone who purchased tickets under the impression this was a different performance is encouraged to contact us—we’ll honor a full refund under our FanProtect Guarantee.”

In light of the mistake, Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe took to social media to joke about what went down, explaining that the band doesn’t play that particular Spartanburg venue when they roll into town.

“We usually play @groundzerovenue NOT Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. This why StubHub sucks. Merry Christmas, Spartanburg.”

Old heads may recall that this isn’t the first time Lamb Of God has been confused for a Christian show or gathering. Back in 2014, their logo was used to promote an Easter-themed event in Salem, Virginia. That also led to some bouts of confusion among fans — especially since the logo was used without the band’s permission.
