Babymetal Celebrate 15 Years of Angering Metal Gatekeepers with Re-Recorded Version of “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!”

Prepare to get all up in your feelings, metal gatekeepers — there’s Babymetal news making the rounds. Earlier today, the kawaii-core band released a newly re-recorded version of their track “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” for its 15th anniversary. It’s kinda wild to think this band’s been making metal “purists” piss their britches for that long, but time’s unrelenting march stops for no one.

This new version is an updated take on the oritinal track from 2011. With its release, the band said this new version was made to commemorate “the 15th anniversary of its formation.” Fans of the band will note that while it’s still maintained its overall pace and energy, the band infused the growls from the band’s newest member Momometal.

In addition to the new track, the band dropped a new music video for “Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!” to boot. It’s got The Ring vibes, only this time it’s in an abandoned arcade instead of some person’s living room. The band is also releasing an “ultra-limited” 15th anniversary CD featuring the new track.

The CD will be available in limited quantities beginning this Wednesday, January 7, at the “BABYMETAL FIRST EVER POP-UP IN TOKYO” event, held on the first floor of Shibuya Tsutaya in Tokyo. The CD will also be sold at the band’s merch booths at upcoming special live performances, LEGEND – METAL FORTH, taking place January 10 and 11 at Saitama Super Arena.

Anyone that buys the CD will get one of three postcards featuring the band members in the music video. There are rare ‘The Chosen 15’ variants, of which only 15 were made worldwide. Their jackets from the music video will also be available for purchase, because nothing says “happy 15th anniversary” like super expensive limited edition merch…
