Exclusive Track Premiere: It’s Not Aeges’ “Fault” That They’re So Rad

Aeges - Above & Down Below SmallAeges became a favorite around the MetalSucks Mansion after we heard their side of a split with their label mates, Dust Moth, last year — at which point we went back and checked out their 2012 album, The Bridge, and subsequently became totally obsessed. So to say we were stoked when the band asked us to help announce their new album, Above & Down Below, AND debut a track from that album, “Fault,” would be an understatement.

And “Fault” doesn’t disappoint. Aeges have played shows with Coheed & Cambria, Silver Snakes, Pelican, and Big Business, amongst others, which should give you a pretty good idea of their sound (let’s pretend Queens of the Stone Age are on that list, too — they oughta be!). It brings the heavy plenty (in the words of our own Vince Neilstein, “DAT BASS!”… to which we might add, “DOZE DRUMS!”), but the fuzzed-out guitars, understated vocals, and the fact that it’s so goddamned hooky you could hang your coat on it lends the music an appeal that should stretch far beyond the metalsphere. We love it, and we’re sure you will, too.

Check out Aeges’ “Fault” now! Above & Below comes out September 23 on The Mylene Sheath, and was mixed and mastered by the great Maytt Hyde (Slayer, Deftones, Behemoth, Children of Bodom). Pre-orders should be available sometime in the next month… in the meantime, keep up with Aeges via Facebook!!!
