Sammy Hagar Says Ozzy Osbourne Will Perform Just Five Songs at His Final Show
As we gear up for the ultimate metal show of the year, otherwise known as Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne‘s farewell extravaganza Back To The Beginning, ex-Van Halen frontman and supporting act Sammy Hagar shared some juicy insider info.
In a conversation with Loudwire, Hagar revealed that Osbourne will only perform five original songs at his farewell show. He apparently received this information from the day’s music director, Tom Morello.
“I chose to do “No More Tears” [during my set that day] and Tom goes, ‘Oh, that would be great.’ And then he comes back and says, ‘Guess what? Ozzy’s going to try and sing five songs and he wants to sing “No More Tears.’”
One track confirmed, four more to go… Hagar revisits his song choice and tells Morello he’d like to sing “Flying High Again”, he says,
“OK, “Flying High Again,” and he goes, ‘You got it.’ So right now, I’m singing “Flying High Again.” If Ozzy changes his mind, I’ll sing “Flying High Again” and “No More Tears.”
Earlier in the year, Osbourne told Louder that he will play “little bits and pieces” at this show, which is most likely due to the singer’s chronic struggles with his physical health. That being said, last month, the Sabbath singer also shared that he’s been “in heavy training for this Aton Villa thing that is coming up.”
We’ll bear in mind that five original songs have been confirmed, but one can hope that Osbourne has a few more in him!
Ozzy Osbourne’s Back To The Beginning show commences July 5 at Villar Park, Birmingham, UK and summons the G.O.A.T. bands and artists of metal.
