Watch Famously British Dude Bruce Dickinson Sing the American Anthem Before an NFL Game
Yesterday before the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks played one another, the NFL opted to bring in the big heavy metal guns for the customary performance of the “Star Spangled Banner.” They brought in the almost painfully British Iron Maiden frontman, Bruce Dickinson.
Now, I don’t know about you, but as a red-blooded American, there’s something perverse yet hilarious about having someone from the losing side sing our national anthem. “Those bombs bursting in air” were rocking your ancestors’ asses, Brucey-boy! Haha suck it! USA! USA! USA! USA!
Watching his performance, Dickinson was a little rough to start out, but that could be attributed to a number of things. Maybe he wasn’t given the signal to go on time so he just went with it and that screwed him up? It’s really hard to sing anything acapella, so I can’t imagine doing that with more than 66,000 people in the stands. Eventually, he gets his bearings and it’s smooth sailing from there. I mean, he is Bruce Dickinson, after all.
I’d say this is definitely a step up from his most recent viral appearance, where he performed a Judas Priest song with a busker in New Orleans.
Bruce is currently on the tail end of his solo North American tour. If you’d like to catch him live, you can do so at any of the dates listed below.
