Bell Witch Teams Up with Aerial Ruin Once Again for ‘Stygian Bough Vol. II’
For the last 15 years, avant-garde doom metal collaborators Bell Witch and Aerial Ruin have been working together to create some massive, heavy soundscapes. That working relationship resulted in their first album Stygian Bough Vol. I back in 2020 and now it’s bearing fruit again with the eventual release of Stygian Bough Vol. II sometime in the coming months.
For those that don’t know, this project is comprised of Bell Witch’s Dylan Desmond and Jesse Shreibman, as well as Aerial Ruin’s Erik Moggridge. As you’d expect, this shit is down and dirty as a doom metal record. It’s slow, plodding, and devastating.
To get people stoked for the eventual release of the album in the coming months, the band released a video teaser filmed and edited by Bobby Cochran, which you can watch below. Desmond commented on the video:
“Bobby Cochran expertly used Sergei Parajanov’s ‘The Color of Pomegranates’ as a muse for this trailer that perfectly captures the dreamlike qualities of the music.”
We don’t have any other information about the album at this time, but we do know the two bands will perform Stygian Bough Vol. II in full on an European tour set to take place early next year. Supporting the and will be 40 Watt Sun.
