Morbikon Announce ‘Lost Within The Astral Crypts’, Single Out Now
International black metal supergroup Morbikon are back and they’ve got a new album titled Lost Within The Astral Crypts coming out on November 21 via Tankcrimes that should be a massive aural boon for fans of extreme metal. And the first taste of what’s to come, they released the album’s first single “Heavens That Burn And Eons Divided”.
The brainchild of Phil “Land Phil” Hall of Municipal Waste, Cannabis Corpse, and Iron Reagan fame and featuring Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns of Finntroll and …And Oceans on vocals, Morbikon’s newly announced album is their follow up to 2022’s Ov Mournful Twilight. These days, they describe their sound as being “guided by the second wave of Scandinavian black metal and melodic death metal scenes of the ‘90s.”
Looking forward to the new album’s release, Hall said Lost Within The Astral Crypts takes a darker turn.
“This album feels like some of my darkest material yet. I filled these songs to the brim with atmosphere and riffs. There are moments during the album that truly feel soaked in classic ‘90s underground blasphemy.”
As far as the single “Heavens That Burn And Eons Divided” is concerned, Hall said it’s the perfect hint at what the rest of the album has to offer.
“We picked out this track to be the opener on Lost Within The Astral Crypts because it perfectly depicts the insanity within the album. We took great pleasure in making the atmosphere and riffs as dark as possible. There are so many doors open within melodic black metal that I wanted to explore. This song touches on a little of everything within the album and offers a perfect setup.”
