Despised Icon Unleash Hell with “The Apparition”
Our friends to the north put out some heavy fuckin metal, too. Just look at Canadian deathcore act Despised Icon. With their seventh studio album Shadow Work coming out at the end of the month via Nuclear Blast Records, they dropped yet another single on your ass and this time it’s titled “The Apparition.”
Speaking of the track, guitarist Eric Jarrin said the track was a sort of ‘eureka’ moment for the band when working on this new album.
“We are really stoked to present this third single to all of you. ‘The Apparition’ holds a special place in my heart as it is the last song I wrote for this record. With the help of Alex for the arrangements, I allowed myself to push the melodic envelope a bit further and came up with one of the most crushing breakdowns on the album.”
As for the band’s collaboration with director Simon Marchand and Disjonctés Productions for the music video posted below, Jarrin said the band was excited with the final result.
“This song also marks our first collaboration with Simon and Disjonctés Productions. Not only did he understand the very personal lyrics of ‘The Apparition’, Simon found a very artistic way to translate it into images while encompassing the energy of the band performing.”
