Gojira’s Studio Sessions Celebrating 20 Years of ‘From Mars to Sirius’ is Appropriately Heavy
Has it really been 20 fucking years since French prog/groove/death metal act Gojira released their insanely good From Mars To Sirius?! Jesus, we’re all getting old. Christ….
Okay, existential crisis aside, the Duplantier brothers and company put out a great video to commemorate the occasion, which actually took place on September 27, not October 31. Filmed at their Silver Cord Studios in Brooklyn, New York, the band ripped through three songs from the aforementioned record: “Ocean Planet”, “From The Sky”, and “Where Dragons Dwell.”
The tracks they chose are particularly interesting, as you’d expect them to play fan favorites like “Flying Whales” or the insanely heavy “The Heaviest Matter of the Universe.” Those would have helped the casual fan get into the video, but fuck that. These guys broke the internet during last year’s Olympics opening ceremony, so they can do whatever they want. Oh and they’ve earned that right over the years or something, I guess.
It’s imporant to note just how good these guys sound in the video. Sure, Joe Duplantier was the session’s producer, but that doesn’t change the fact that his vocals sound fucking amazing in this video.
Definitely check this out if you want to feel nostalgic about one of the better albums to come out in the past couple decades.
