MORE PAGANTASTIC LIVE FOOTAGE OF TURISAS ON PAGANFEST

So from what I hear, Paganfest has been a colossal success thus far. I think more of you should be writing in and telling us how awesome this tour is, ’cause a) we’re co-sponsors of the tour and we like to think everything we touch turns to metal and b) we won’t get to go until the last night of the tour here in NYC, so we need to live vicariously through you cats.

Below is some more awesome live footage of Turisas, this time playing Paganfest’s stop at The Boardwalk in Orangevale, California on May 7, 2008. And below that is the itinerary for all remaining dates on the tour, because for many of you, it’s not too late to go. And tell ‘em Axl, Vince and Kip sent ya.

The show here in the Twin Towns Of Terror was fairly good, though I got screwed by the venue. It was an “all ages” show, and it was advertised as “Doors open at 5pm.” I showed up at six and the first band was already done. It was the act I most wanted to see, Eluveitie. So that pissed me off. Tyr was playing as I walked in. They were terrible. On disc they sound crisp and fast and melodic but live they’re plodding and lumbering and dull. Maybe it was an off night. Turisas was amazing. They really know how to command a crowd and the music sounded fantastic. Pretty much every Ensiferum song sounded exactly the same. The band doesn’t have much in the way of dynamics. I wasn’t impressed and left toward the end of their set.

    the enb.

Fucking best concert I’ve ever been to.
And as for the comment above, man, I thought Tyr was quite good live…it may have been that one night. Plus their set list was quite short.

Definitely worth dishing out the cash, best concert you’ll see this year.

I went to the santa clara show, which was at a weird venue, but awesome because that venue is across the street from my house. The show was great. Eluvietie was good and cheesy, with a front man that was rockin the Devin Townsend styled dreadlocked skullet. Tyr was boring live and didnt play any of their good songs. Turisas was amazing!!! They should have been the headliner, because, although Ensiferum is faster and more technical and have been around longer, they dont have the charisma or stage presence of Turisas and Turisas blew them out of the water, despite having their orchestration samples very low in the mix. I cant wait to see them again. The only lame thing was that the shirts for sale were $30 and hoodies were $50.
