Album Premiere: The Dread Crew of Oddwood Acoustically Shred on Rust & Glory

0

You’ve heard of pirate metal, you’ve heard of folk metal, but if you’ve never heard the two mixed and mashed into something new altogether, then you obviously haven’t heard of The Dread Crew of Oddwood. With their fifth album Rust & Glory coming out tomorrow, the Southern California band’s has given MetalSucks readers (and I guess anyone else that visits this article) a first listen to the whole damn thing down below.

Keeping it heavy without plugging anything in, The Dread Crew of Oddwood weave tales of being salty sea dogs and all the chaos and debauchery that comes with it. While this sort of thing may not be the most enticing 13 tracks to your crustiest death metal fan, anyone with a sense of humor and an appreciation for musicianship can sit back with a big ol’ flagon of grog (or any other beverage of choice) and revel in the epic and folksy tunes.

Recorded at Seahorse Sound Studios in Los Angeles and mixed, engineered, and mastered by folk metal musician Anna Murphy, Rust & Glory also features several guest spots, including double bass by Bass Princess, hurdy gurdy by Anna Murphy, and additional vocals by Anna Murphy and Madison Lowery. Mastering was done by Svante Forsbäck, and artist Mark Gibbons painted the cover.

So be sure to check out the album and pick it up tomorrow wherever you get your music. The Dread Crew of Oddwood will be on tour with Trollfest and Æther Realm as support for Týr. Check out dates for the Battle Ballads North American Tour below:
