WHY ARE NECROPHAGIST SO BLOODY AWESOME?

I’ve been meaning to write about Germany’s Necrophagist for some time now — their last album Epitaph is fucking brutal with a capital BRU and a testament to just how expressive extremely technical extreme metal can truly be. Slays me every time; the playing, the songwriting, the punishing — it’s all here. And much like most of us here at MetalSucks will do this very weekend, you too can see these dudes play as opener along with Suffocation on the Carcass reunion tour for the next week or so on the East Coast.     Well they aren’t with Suffocation or Carcass(that show’s playing near me soon, Necrophagist just isn’t there…1349 is though and that’s really all that matters), but they are playing close to me Monday

    And I am sad because I won’t be there.

    They are indeed a very good Tech Death band. If you like the style, be sure to check out Gorod. Imo, they’re the best tech death band in the world right now.

    I have to admit these guys can play. Suffocation is an excellent death metal band as well.
    But what separates them from the countless other groups that call themselves Death Metal? Just as I said about grindcore, where are the differences in these bands? To me, they all sound like DEATH. Do they expand on the groundbreaking work of madman Chuck Schuldiner? Are they just paying homage?
    I can’t see myself going to an all Death metal show and noticing any difference between the opener and the headliner.

    This isnt related to the subject but, If i got general admission to a concert…meaning the tix are ALL THE SAME PRICE. no matter where. I can go from the upper to the lower at anytime, right? cuz my dad got upper seats to a concert im going to and I mean it says upper seat 203. But, It’s general admission…therefore, i could go to the lower at any time right? I mean im paying the same exact price as I would if i got a lower lvl ticket…so i should go wherever right?

    @iwrestledaferretonce: If you can’t hear the difference between Death (which i love btw) and (for example) Benighted, Akercocke or Immolation, you need a hearing aid.

    Nice one Kip, found this band in my more Pantera obsessed days when I was looking up Necrophagia (who turned out to be not a patch on Necrophagist) happiest mistake I’ve made in a long time! Would love to see them together with Carcass and Suffocation, chances of that coming to Ireland is about 1 in 10000 though =/

    they are awesome. met Muhammad before their labor day show in st. louis. one of the nicest, humblest and coolest people i’ve met. and he will brutalize you with that guitar

    Ya cant go wrong with Necrophagist. I’ve seen them live twice (first, opening for Cannibal Corpse, and then a headlining show to make up for missing the first few dates of Summer Slaughter last year) and it was pure technical excellence. I hardly headbanged during that headlining set, i just watched Muhammed and the rest of the band fucking shred. I’m seeing Carcass on Wednesday, but they aren’t playing, which is kind of a bummer, but Pig Destroyer and Misery Index will be special openers, so I am pleased and extremely excited.

    Thanks for mp3s, I have yet to buy one of their albums, but these songs will satisfy me for a couple of weeks and on.

    Cosign Voodoo Trucker. It’s already been established you guys enjoy really shitty metal but to even think for a second that Muhammaed Suicmez is a good songwriter is to own up to being completely out to lunch.

    The man couldn’t write himself out Angela Gossow’s twat.

    I’ve only heard a few songs from necrophagist but what i’ve heard is completely awesome.. The only reason i’ve ever heard of them is cause of my boyfriend But Necrophagist is fucking awesome
