ANVIL! MY SIGHT-UNSEEN NOMINEE FOR BEST METAL DVD FOR 2009
Friday, January 9th, 2009 at 11:43am by Corey MitchellI’ve been waiting forever to check out the documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil but can’t afford to fly cross country for a film festival. The good news is that the movie will have an official DVD release sometime in the spring, probably March.
Needless to say, wood will be sported.
Check out the trailer:
Also, here’s an interview with the band after a recent screening of the film at the Winter Garden Theater in April 2008:
Corey Mitchell is a best-selling author of several true crime books, founder of the #1 true crime blog, In Cold Blog, and knows the Texas Longhorns should have been the ones vying for the college football national championship last night.

I love Canada.
I’m happy they found the sleeping bags too.
Fuck that. Those crybaby cowboys can go to hell. A fieldgoal over OSU? The same OSU team that USC destroyed? They didn’t deserve their shot and they proved it.
Why do people always follow “needless to say” by saying whatever it was that was needless to say?
;) Kidding Corey. I’m just still pissed at you for recommending that dated, poorly produced, horribly written, lyrically retarded Metal Church album. (But it won’t stopping me from buying your books.)
@hibernum:
Your mighty Trojans defeated a dismal OSU in Week 3 who subsequently went on to become one of the hottest teams in the nation. Of course, your mighty Trojans lost to another OSU, Oregon State, who finished up with a whopping 9-4 record. Texas was one dropped interception from beating 11-2 Texas Tech. As for Texas Rip Van Winkle performance against Ohio State, how could truly expect them to be pumped for the Fiesta Bowl when every thinking person in the country realized they were a better team than Oklahoma and they deserved to be playing for the national championship. I guess I will be content with our #3 BCS ranking over the mighty Trojans #5, despite the joke 3-point eclipse your team pulled on Texas in the AP. West coast bias! Of course, Utah makes both of our teams look bad at this point.
@Sammy:
ferfuckssake, editors everywhere. I can’t escape them. Besides, most people would prefer not to hear about my erections.
As for the Metal Church burr in your saddle, after you whined about their latest album repeatedly on a few of my posts I went and checked out some other reviewers’ opinions of This Present Wasteland. Now, I never read other reviews of albums before I write my own because I frankly don’t give a shit unless it’s in Terrorizer or Decibel, however, I wanted to see if I was as offbase as you claimed as I was. After checking out almost 30 reviews, I have to say Sammy, that you are the outsider on this one. Four reviews felt like you did — they couldn’t stand it. Two were meh on it. The other 24 were firmly in my corner singing the album’s praises to the hilt. That doesn’t make me right or you wrong, of course, it’s just a scintillating empirical study.
Needless to say, I think you are cooler than a brown stain on a wifebeater for buying my books!
@Corey: That’s funny. I also checked out other reviews and yes, I also saw that I was in the decided minority. So, in my usual fashion, I just figured that my island is the lone one on the planet and the rest of you were wrong. And I don’t think I “repeatedly” whined. I would say it was more that I “reiterated”. Or maybe re-reiterated. Or possibly re-re-reiterated. But I did NOT “repeatedly” whine. Most certainly not.
And I prefer to think of myself as cooler than the other side of the pillow, thankyouverymuch. Good day, sir. I said, Good day!
@Sammy: You always bring a smile to my face! Seriously…too bad I’m straight.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this documentary gave Anvil the boost in popularity they’re looking for.
any date for this?
