There’s something reassuring about knowing that people one sometimes considers cooler than him or herself were not, in fact, always so cool.
Our newest correspondent, Angela Gossowski, sent me this communiqué over the weekend:
Stumbled upon this earlier. The only thing that has changed is the fact that they shop on Rodeo Drive now rather then wearing the hand-me-downs from the uncle who touched them inappropriately when they were kids.

I could easily ID Mustaine and Hetfield above, but had to read the entry to figure out that that was a picture of Kirk Hammett – I thought it was Alex Van Halen.
I also totally thought it was Alex Van Halen.
I recognized Kirk and James right away. Mustaine I didn’t recognize until I looked closer. Mustaine looks normal but the other two look ridiculous

In a sorta creepy way, all but the EVH pics look like milk carton missing children photos.

mustaine looks just like Beavis. If you look at gene simmons pic, he would totally be Butthead.
If Metallica had used these pics for the back cover of Death Magnetic, I might respect them.
