CILICE DON’T BELIEVE IN GOD OR DIGITAL DOWNLOADS
Friday, October 16th, 2009 at 2:30pm by Vince NeilsteinI’m totally into this Dutch band CiLiCe that one of our readers sent in earlier this week. These dudes are unbelievable… they’re the closest thing I’ve heard to former MetalSucks proverbial wet-dreams Sikth since… well, Sikth.
CiLiCe lose points, however, for not having their album available for download anywhere that I can find (I checked their MySpace, official website, iTunes U.S. and even iTunes Netherlands). You just lost ten bucks, dudes. What gives? I ain’t payin’ $20 for a CD to be shipped overseas. But you still rule.
Here’s their video for “God of Lies,” the first track from their recent [apparently un-downloadable] album Deranged Headtrip.

If its not available on itunes or on vinyl somewhere, thats the bands stupid fault and they deserve to have their album stolen.
Can someone explain to me why all these sick Meshuggah-esque bands feel they need shit all over heavy ass songs with obnoxious fucking clean vocals. Fuck.
I always wondered the same thing. especially bands like periphery/tesseract who seem to be plagiarizing every meshuggah riff they can and then throwing poppy commercial choruses onto them. fuckin lame
i like periphery,. old singer heavier,. dont mind the new one though.. singy shit will ruin a good metal song
whats with every band wanting to be meshuggah these days? also, the clean vocals at 2 and a half minutes made me gag.
because meshuggah is sick
God forbid a metal band uses clean vocals. I’m not even saying the use of clean vocals in this song are that great, but nobody – not one single person – talks shit on Devin Townsend or any of his gazillion projects, a good portion of which utilize clean vocals. I’m not a big fan of Iron Maiden, but they have endless followers here and clean vocals are used through and through. Yet newer bands who do it “shit all over heavy music” or make you people “gag”. Idiots the bunch of you, seriously.
It’s not about using them in general, it’s how and where they’re used.
Exactly. I have nothing against clean vocals(Pantera’s my favorite band) and I fuckin worship Devin Townsend, but Devy doesn’t play Meshuggah-esque metal. I was simply wondering why all these types of bands choose to throw in random clean vocal choruses over really heavy shit.
i.e. Periphery, Textures, Tesseract, Mnemic, etc.
It’s just gotten so predictable, it almost seems like a -core at this point. “MeshuCore”
Screaming and growling is overrated. Anyone who shit talks a band just because they have clean vocals is attempting to make up for the fact that they have a small penis. It’s the metal equivalent of the big, 4×4 truck.
You said it Ben.
Pandering to the bandwagon much?
Thou speaketh truth.
Devin Townsend’s name shalt not be fucketh around witth!
Agreed.
DJENT!!!
i dont like the new bands that shove in clean vocals that 1. are used to create radio friendy parts in songs, and 2. are so computerized and fake that they sound retarded. its bands like this one that piss me off cuz they try and be thrash, death, prog, meshuggah, groove, radio friendly, blahblahblah…and cant pull any of them off. clean vocals should be used by people who can actually sing, without computer equilizers. Tool is a perfect example maynerd can really sing, unlike, for example, rob flynn [machine head] who cant at all, but still shoves singy parts into songs. do you get it now? Its not that Im all anti singing, its that I like quality not quantity. capish?

it’s their own fault…
Shazam!!!
Wow, there are clips from the gig in Skopje nearly 2 years ago. They were on tour with Torture Squad, that was some awesome gig! One of the best tech/math bands out there. Sorry all of you wankers, but you need to see this band live. They own tottaly
I like them, and even if they do sound a lot like Meshuggah, I still like them. And the clean vocals are good, too.
Saw these guys last thursday in a small club in Amsterdam and they fucking rocked! I thought they would be good, but they transcended my expectations and that doesn’t happen very often.
so with all the ads, and the money you’re paid to hype shit bands you cant afford 20 bucks? hows that hopenchange workin out for ya asshole?
this band rules. yea they sound kinda like meshuggah but they also have some other awesome influences in their songs. the clean vocals, which appear maybe 5 times throughout the whole album, are awesome.
i have the cd,.. hit me up zerolotusixxx@gmail.com
If you’re looking for Sikth-alikes then hit up Cyclamen: http://www.myspace.com/thiscyclamen
