JIZZ ALERT: THE FACELESS WILL PERFORM PLANETARY DUALITY IN ITS ENTIRETY ON UPCOMING TOUR!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 at 10:30am by

the faceless - planetary dualityThe Faceless’ Planetary Duality was one of our most favoritest albums of 2008, making both Axl’s (#2)and Vince’s (honorable mention) year-end lists. Since its release the band has been touring non-stop opening up for pretty much everyone — Meshuggah/Cynic, Cannibal Corpse, Obscura/Neuraxis, Misery Index, Atheist… these are all tours that have taken The Faceless out as openers over the past year, and that doesn’t even include stuff they’ve done outside the U.S. Jeez! It’s finally time for the band to headline their own tour (or at least co-headline with Dying Fetus), the Planetary Depravity Tour, which starts this Saturday night. If Warbringer are any indication, the scheme of having a young band support every band under the sun in order to build a fanbase can actually work, but I’ll still bet The Faceless camp are just a tad bit nervous to finally headline.

SO. The Faceless have announced via their MySpace page that they’ll be playing Planetary Duality in its entirety every night on the Planetary Depravity Tour:

We’re very excited to announce that we’ll be playing our latest album ‘Planetary Duality’ in its entirety from start to finish on our upcoming co-headline tour with Dying Fetus. I think this is going to be the best Faceless performance anyone has caught to date. You can expect a few older songs in there as well and we’re going to try and make this set a very unique experience for everyone who’s coming. Don’t miss this one!

This is obviously awesome news for anyone who loved Planetary Duality — moreso than many metal records these days, it’s definitely an ALBUM meant to be enjoyed from start to finish. But above and beyond that, this is a mighty ambitious move for a young band; it’s not like we’re talking Metallica playing Master of Puppets or Motley Crue playing Dr. Feelgood here. This is a relatively new band, and I think it speaks to their talent, ambition and confidence that they can do something like this and have fans react positively. I honestly don’t even think Dying Fetus could get away with playing Descend Into Depravity in its entirety, or for that matter any full record in their catalog. Way to go Faceless! Psyched! I’m listening to Planetary Duality right now for the first time in several months and yes… this album is still incredibly good.

Oh hey also, we’re giving away a pair of tickets to the New York City show on 11/28! To enter to win, just email news [at] metalsucks.net with THE FACELESS in the subject line, and tell us why you deserve the tickets.

Call in sick the next morning, that show is going to be fucking epic.
Saw them in Chico with Lamb of God and while it’s true they don’t
move much, the music sounds pretty fucking close to the album, which
is particularly impressive considering how young these guys are.

  • thebenthic

Am I the only person who thinks Akeldama is head and shoulders above Planetary Duality? I think PD is freakin’ awesome, but Akeldama just seemed more original and awesomer.

    • Dr schwine-hoot

No way, PD songwriting is on a whole other level, without comprising the heaviness. Other way around 4 me. And Mike Keene guitar playing on PD is amazing, 1 of the new guitar players to keep an eye on…

    • Rick

      Yes. Will be at 11/22.

    • thebenthic

dude i use to think that way as well, but then i realized that when i first tried to listen to planetary i just wasnt ready for that high quality of metal yet in my life, i waited like 6 months, put it back on, and it blew me away. i was ready to recieve the metal.

  • Brendan

The album’s only a half hour long. I don’t see this as being a challenge for them. They will destroy the fuck out of it. I actually might go to this, as Dying Fetus is also a really fucking good band.

  • akeldama

MetalSucks – that website that tells you about cool shit immediately after you hear about it form everywhere else.

    • Slaughterhouse

      hahaha!!!!!!!!!!

  • Glorious Johnson

dying fetus could definitely play killing on adrenaline or destroy the opposition start to finish and i doubt anyone would raise a stink

  • Ryd1ZZ

Damn this is going to be awesome.

  • http://www.last.fm/user/groverXIII groverXIII

Coolio… I enjoyed Planetary Duality, so I approve of this.

  • Death to “Bro-Metal”

This is a fucking sick tour. i never thought i’d see Vital Remains and Dying Fetus on the same bill… I’m amped for this – it’s the day before Megadeth, which is exactly a week after I see Metallica…

  • http://www.myspace.com/jay234t BrutalJay

Once again South Carolina are shunned. Sigh. I was so excited when I got my job because now I can start going to shows again but, it’s like as soon as I got the job, all tours stopped coming here. But of course there were a million amazing shows when I was unemployed.

  • steve-o

Awesome. I’d never heard of The Faceless before I saw them open for Cynic and Meshuggah earlier this year. I was blown away, and went and got “Planetary Duality” the next day. One of the best metal albums I’ve heard in a long time.

  • Malacoda

    Fuck finals, I’m going.

  • oBESTIALo

the faceless rape dying fetus, the crowd gonna be weird tho, half scene kids half scary dying fetus fans

  • Chris D.

Damn, I was debating whether drive the three hours to Maryland to see this show because of all the questionable openers, but it’s a no-brainer now. PD’s definitely one of my top albums of all time.

  • http://www.kingdomofnoise.blogspot.com MetalMatt

I feel bad for Dying Fetus for having to tour with The Faceless. I think I’m like the only person that doesn’t like the Faceless.
    But Dying Fetus is awesome!
