SLASH FALLS ON HIS “SWORD”

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 at 2:00pm by Axl Rosenberg

So Slash performed a new song, “By the Sword,” at some benefit over the weekend, and of course there’s bootleg footage now on the net. It sounds better than the crap we’ve heard before, but the sound of Slash taking an actual crap would sound better than the crap we’ve heard before, so whatever.

The vocals are being performed here by Carrot Top. I don’t remember anyone saying that Carrot Top was on the actual album, so either he is and we just didn’t know it ’til now, or someone else sings the studio version. Let’s hope it’s the former.

Filling out the band for this performance is Dave Navarro, another dude from Jane’s Addiction who isn’t Navarro or Perry Farrell, and Blink-182’s Travis Barker, who tragically survived a plane crash earlier this year.

Slash’s solo album should ruin your 2010 sometime in the spring.

the only way this could be worse is if carrot top took off his shirt.

  2. I'm not racist, but I hate Oceano says:

“Blink-182’s Travis Barker, who tragically survived a plane crash earlier this year.”

  3. WowWee! says:

tragically survived a plane crash. HA

  4. Alaskan King Crabcore says:

Considering people DID die in that crash, I’d say that comment was pretty fucking uncalled for.

    • Spencer says:

Couldn’t agree more. “Tragically survived” is fucking tasteless, especially considering most everyone except Travis Barker DID die, and the only other survivor recently killed himself. Most of the time I love the sarcasm this site puts out, but that’s going WAY too far.

      • Cisco says:

I think the two of you need to remove whatever is up your butts. Everything on this site is pretty much always uncalled for and most of the time un-pc. Isn’t that why we visit this site so often?

        • Spencer says:

Jokingly wishing death on Travis Barker by referencing a plane crash in which he almost did die isn’t funny, is insulting and disrespectful considering what did happen in the crash, and shows horrible taste. It was a jab out of left field that I really didn’t like and I’m sorry that you disagree.

          • Dave666 says:

What he said. Travis is a great drummer and as a fellow drummer (although I dont like the bands hes played for) he doesnt deserve this “black” comedy. Just Sayin`!

        • Alaskan King Crabcore says:

It’s not a question of “too soon” or “being PC.” It’s about being a reasonable human.

    • Lorenzo says:

There’s an awful lot of tears in here.

    0.o really?

  6. Sammy says:

That actually didn’t suck, and the scrawny Carrot Top lookalike is a decent singer (but why does have a guitar strapped on?). Travis Barker is further proof that good musicians can be insanely annoying and play in shitty bands, btw.

  7. Facebook User says:

im sure everyone knows thats the singer of Wolfmother.

  8. Buttor says:

I’ve seen a video from that same gig where slash is joined onstage by duff and steven adler and they play Paradise City !! That could’ve been very cool, BUT the singer is Chester Bennington… You know what ? Even Fergie’s version is better.

  9. SHOCKTROOP says:

this website clearly has an anti-slash agenda. just hate on all things slash regardless of what they are. this song gives nobody any reason to hate on slash. it’s a cool tune.

    • Another stupid slash post says:

I agree, this was a pretty stupid post. I’ll be honest im not a Slash fan, but come on, you guys just sound stupid when you try this hard to hate something because it’s not what it used to be like. Like a an overgrown child wining about Metallica’s post Justice material. And I completely agree with the Barker comment being too much, even metalsucks has a line and you clearly crossed it. So can we be done with stupid shit like this please, I wanna hear more about Periphery.

  10. Frampler says:

That Travis Barker comment had me in stitches. Those complaining need to remember the words of Stone and Parker: it’s either all OK, or nothing is OK.

  11. Jim says:

You fuckers had me there with Carrot Top!

    fuck travis barker

  12. Bambi says:

When is Slash going to let Kevin Jones have his chance ?
Kevin Jones kicks this guys ass on vocals
