MASTER OF PENDULUM
Thursday, December 10th, 2009 at 11:40am by Vince NeilsteinUK heavy-techno band Pendulum — who really fucking impressed me the one time I saw them live — have posted a remix of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets.” Pendulum have always tried to fit into the metal / hard rock spheres with mixed reactions… their techno does definitely incorporate elements of both as does their live show, but I can definitely see how they’d grate on die-hard metal fans. Seriously though, if you just open your mind a little any metalhead should enjoy the spectacle this is Pendulum’s live show. If you happen to be at a festival where they’re playing and they’re not on at the same same as, say, Opeth, go out of your way to check them out… it’ll be well worth it for you.
Here’s their remix of “Master of Puppets,” which I originally found posted at UK Metal Underground.

Thats actually a great remix, other than the shitty vocals.
Pendulum is the fucking tits. Look how awesome they made an already awesome song. It even came with the stock Pendulum drum beat.
this would’ve been really cool and impressive 13 years ago.
This is passable. Depends on if it has the solo :P
Fail.
Not bad. I got introduced to Pendulum through their remix of “Voodoo People” by The Prodigy, waaaaaay back. It’s true that it’s the stock Pendulum drum beat, unfortunately (or do the purists call it, “the signiture drum beat”? haha), but for anyone who’s open enough to this kind of music, there’s really nobody else out there who does it as well as Pendulum has.
This would have been great while Prodigy was around.
Epic Fail!!!!!
What do you mean “was around”?
The Prodigy put on one of the best live shows I saw this year. Invaders Must Die is a great album.
Second that! Got to catch Prodigy twice this year, and they were easily two of the best shows I have ever seen. SOOOO much energy, such a fantastic performance. Invaders is indeed a great album…they never disappoint.
2:08? Um, sounds really strange to just end the song after all that time spent getting to the first verse…
there’s a full version on the related videos, it’s clearly better. my opinion, the one posted sounded weak
I started listening to Pendulum after reading about them on the Celldweller blog… considering I don’t really like techno, these guys are really fucking good.
His remix of Propane Nightmares crushes the original song. I’ll send it to you since I see you on the Fark sunday metal threads if you don’t have it already.
Heh… I’ve got it. And you’re right, it does.
me likey
Never cared for either band. This doesn’t leave an impression on me at all.
And for the record, Pendulum aren’t British in any real sense, they moved here from Australia just to be with some Breakbeat Kaos labelmates of theirs or something.
dont know where this techno reference is coming from. straight up dnb that likes to make a lot of the same types of tunes. Sounds to me like a really bad effort made on cubase or guitar pro.
Pendulum are from my home city Perth, Western Australia. From what I remember they started their careers in the Perth Metal scene as a Grindcore-ish band and then started really doing the Drum and Bass thing eventually ending up with the sound they have now.
Hell yeah Perf representin’
Don’t like them, except for their remix of Voodoo People which is an awesome (and pretty much impossible) song to fuck up anyway. Also, their signature drum beat gets old really fucking quick. The Prodigy are far superior to this band in every way.
KUTMUZIEK!
I don’t like it because it sounds like they just slowed down the song and added a few extra cymbals. A remix should completely change the song, like the HelloAtomic stuff posted last week. This is just boring.
Oh hell yeah, Pendulum. Love that shit.
THESE GUYS ARE AUSSIES YOU FUCKING DUMB ASSES. FIRST SAYING PYSCROPTIC WAS FROM NEW ZEALAND AND NOW SAYING PENDULUM ARE BRITISH.. YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING IDIOTS!!!!
HERE ITS SPELLED LIKE THIS..
A U S T R A L I A N
CUNTS
PLUS FUCKING ONE!
Seriously!
as Joshy from A Red Dawn proudly states…
“LEARN YA FUCKEN AUSSIE MUSIC, YA FUCKEN CUNTS.
BROOOOOOOOOOODDAAAAAAAAAAAAL”
this diesn’t really do ‘em justice,to really experience it the way your supposed to (or as close as possiblle anyway without actually going to a show) watch the live version played at brixton academy on youtube,it segues into “slam”,one of their best songs but it’s done so fucking well,i mean i’m not really a fan of the original MoP (overrated IMO) but pendulum’s live version is truly fucking awesome, then after liking that and wanting to listen to more by them, make sure to check out The Tempest from the same dvd \m/
There is a raining blood one by concord dawn, and they cut the main riff short… (you know the riff).
Annoying but everyone fuckin loves it.
Utube it.
I went to Sonisphere in the Netherlands to see Lamb of God and Mastodon play and these guys were the opening act. Let me tell you this band is horrible.
“Pendulum are an Australian drum and bass/electronic rock production group and live band originally from Perth, Australia formed between producers Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen and Paul Harding. In 2003, they relocated to the United Kingdom. They have gained major popularity in the UK, and have started making a name for themselves overseas.”
For all of the people confused about their nationality there you go. Turns out everyone was right. Doesn’t alter the fact they are shit though.

For anyone confused about their nationality. I’m from the UK and I can see where the confusion comes from, they get sold over here as a UK band.
Of course none of this changes the fact that they are shit.
Sorry, computer crashed while posting the first comment, didn’t know if it had registered.
This band is amazing. I saw them a couple years ago. Impressive live set.
