REMEMBERING ADRIAN BROMLEY

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 at 1:30pm by

adrian bromleyDimebag Darrell wasn’t the only metal luminary whose life we celebrated on December 8th; one year ago on the very same day we also lost Adrian Bromley, a metal writer, publicist and dedicated fixture of the scene for many years. Ken Pierce was the first to remind us of this unfortunate anniversary via a Facebook update, but now Noisecreep has linked to a lengthy In Memoriam piece on Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles written by Marta Ustyanich. The piece focuses on Bromley’s life, his passion for metal, his hard work ethic and his undying good spirits, and it’s great read for anyone who knew or knew of Adrian.

We only knew Bromley for a brief time, but his presence in the scene is missed. R.I.P., Adrian Bromley.

I knew Adrian when I lived in Toronto and put out my Skull Session zine. He was very passionate about the mteal, and a very humble guy.

    RIP bro

Adrian was a straight shooter who was generous with his enthusiasm for things that he liked. We did a few shows with him and he was ALWAYS on top of things. I’d send out an e-mail about stuff from time to time and, day or night or well past midnight, he was always right back in touch with a helpful answer. A very cool fellow; he’s missed.

It’s always the good ones that have to die.

Adrian opened many doors for my former band. He scored us some great reviews, hooked us up with good people and got us feature articles in some damn fine publications- Adrian did this type of thing for EVERY band that he liked. He was a great dude, who affected many people during his life. He is greatly respected, admired and missed especially in the Toronto area where so many bands, publications and the scene in general was so interconnected with him.

His memorial last winter (that packed the Opera House in Toronto) was a touching, memorable night that brought together hundreds of people from the Canadian and American underground metal scenes to celebrate his life and share memories of Adrian.

    RIP Adrian!.
