THE MOST METAL SONG IN THE WORLD OF THE DAY

Self-aware metal songs always hit that sweet spot for me. Manowar? Come on. Nothing beats a rousing singalong of “Fighting the World” (see also: every other Manowar song ever).

So when Suckalo “Clockwise Music” sent us a link to Toehider‘s “The Most Metal Song in The World” it was pretty much a no-brainer from the get-go that it was gonna be awesome. The unfortunately named Australians in Toehider are apparently releasing 12 EPs in as many months; I’m all for new and creative ways of releasing music, but that seems like a bit much, no? In any case it matters not, because this song rules. Check it:

Toehider are made of steel, not clay.

This song should be called ” The worst song ever created” or “The worst ripoff of a LOG song EVER” (aside from the atrocious vocals)

Guys, do yrselves a favour and check out toehider.com/12in12. That’s where you can find all of the EP’s from this project. They’re all in different styles, there’s a 70s rock style one, one which is all folk-acoustic stuff, one which is like an orchestral soundtrack to a non-existent movie, a Xmas EP, and then there’s “Metaltarsus” (lolpun) which is a whole EP very much in the vein of this tune.

Toehider in the studio is actually one guy, Michael Mills (also of Melbourne prog band Template, who are worth your attention too), and with the exclusion of the odd keyboard and drum track here and there, he records every instrument himself, in his home studio, as well as engineering, producing and mixing.

Does the ministry of censorship know about this?

I think Dream Evil might have them (him?) beat as my favorite overly-metal band, but that song was fucking awesome!
