SEATTLE: DEVIN TOWNSEND’S GONNA MAKE THE RAIN GO AWAY, BABY

Thursday, February 11th, 2010 at 1:30pm by

Despite the cloudy weather, I’ve actually found Seattle to be a delightful place. Seriously. I know I’m always down on shit, but I have no ill will towards Seattle. I even forgive them for all the shitty music they put out in the 90s.

In fact, I kinda wish I was living in Seattle right now. ‘Cause then I’d be able to go see Devin Townsend put on a free acoustic show, which will include “never before played music.” Think about that: you could be in the room the first time Devin Townsend tries out new music on an audience. That’s the kind of thing you’ll remember on your death bed.

All the details are in this nifty little poster:

If you can go to this show… well, you should. There’s no doubt in my mind it’s gonna be awesome. And let us know how it is!

Thanks to Sam Payne for the tip!

Oh man I’m so there! I live half an hour north of Redmond. Thanks for letting me know Metalsucks. Love you guys :)

God Damn that sounds awesome. I know the name of the venue seems to be Soul Food, but if they served Soul Food while he was playing it would be a dream come true!

  • Daniel

Oh and also, the music that Seattle put out in the 90s is leaps and bounds better than the pathetic and unoriginal emo-indie that is so prevalent in the city now.

Makes me wish I had several hundred dollars to spend on a one nighter.

  • RockOutWithMy…YouKnow

I have ‘Cuse – Villanova tickets for that night, but I would dive them up in a heartbeat to go see this! Sounds awesome.

    • RockOutWithMy…YouKnow

      *give
I guess I would dive into something nasty to get to see this too.

  • Dima

This is, like, a 10-minute drive from my house. Ridiculous.

  • Fong Chung

I’d definetly hit this up, if it wasn’t in Seattle, and wasn’t at some vegan sounding hippie resturant. Sounds pretty gay too actually. Sounds as if “Well we are trying to get a guy who used hate everything to play here with his acoustic set we can’t stand noise he usually plays.” Whatever I wonder if they will make him play a bamboo made guitar too hahaha.

    • NickB

I want to Tortfease the piss out of you. Seriously.

    • Rabiddonut

ummm it’s Devin Townsend. who gives a shit about the venue.

    • stu1

  • Natalie

UGH cool things like this never happen near me :(

  • fuckman

What music from Seattle sucks? How can you guys like glam rock and HIM and bag on Seattle music?

    • SHOCKTROOP

seriously. alice in chains, STP, Pearl Jam. etc. etc. great music.

      • Hammer_Smashed_Hurtt

Thems sightin words, you can bag on STP, Nirvana, Pearl Jam..But leave Alice out of it.

Youre entering a World of Pain.

    • Rabiddonut

yeah really. Wolves In The Throne Room are from here to so Seattle is pretty amazing.

    • Facebook User

Nevermore are from Seattle and are proof positive that not all music out of Seattle is flannel wearing fail.

  • Stiggs

According to their website, they stream live all of their performances:

  • Fong Chung

Sounds like a place where everyone does spoken word crap lol.

    • stu1

Another great post from you. I love when adults end their sentences with “lol.”

  • SHOCKTROOP

you consider Alice in Chains shitty music? fuck that. Seattle put out some fantastic music in the early 90′s. not to mention, Duff McKagen is from there.

    • Fong Chung

Alice N Chains is pretty shitty music. You do realize, they were once a Glam Metal band right? Hmmmm reminds me a certain band…..

      • stu1

A third one! You’re on fire!
What relevance does the fact they were a different style of band at one point have on the music they ultimately released?

      • LULWUT

Shhh Shh.. quite there child. The adults are speaking now, you just have to be patient and wait your turn.

Can we get him some crayons or something? Preferably something he can’t swallow and choke on.

  • myke

anybody that lives over there enjoy it!

  • http://www.philistineonthesidewalk.net Kodiak

He should be playing in Seattle proper, because trying to get across the lake in rush hour traffic – haha, forget that.

I’ll try to catch the stream and sleep warm in my bed knowing Hevy Devy is acoustically melting faces across the lake.

  • Dillon

    HOLY SHIT.

I don’t live too far from Redmond, I really gotta see this…

P.S. If you’re looking for shitty music from Seattle (at least the area), there’s always Aiden, and Kenny G was born from the area too. Sorry to ruin everything. :(

  • riotact666
