Anyone watch the gold medal Olympic hockey game yesterday? Holy shit. Hockey is just so fucking metal, even with the Olympic-imposed fight ban. What a great game that was… tensions and emotions were so high! It’s crazy to think that this week Americans and Canadians will have to go back to playing on the same teams again after two weeks of blind patriotism and ire for one another and their countries.

Our sisters from another mistress at Reign in Blonde are all over the finer side of the Winter Olympics, offering the whole back-story of Russian figure skater Evgeni Plushenko who’s apparently extremely butt-hurt over his loss to an American. That’s amusing and all, but not as amusing as this video the RiB girls posted of some clever digital effects editor’s take on his routine… to Metallica’s “Battery”… with a battle-axe. Epic.

    Olympic hockey is so metal….

    It was a DAMN good game. I live downtown Ottawa, and the streets were filled with crazies with red and white face paint (very kvlt) and flag-capes until 1am. Plus, their loyal steeds were honking all night long and even this morning. Crazy people…

      That was an incredible game. Even though I’m from the US, I was happy to see Canada win. Hockey is a much more important game to the Candians than it is to us. I love the game, but it’s still behind football, college basketball, and boxing for me.
      Just happy it was competetive all the way through, and had a great time watching Ryan Miller play. That guy is something else.

    That game was fuckin insane!! I live in London ontario and there was easily 2000-3000 drunken patriotic assholes that shut down the major downtown street after the game was over.

        I say Slovakia. Sure, they didn’t get a medal, but they finished higher in the standings than they ever have before, they beat russia, and Made Canada aware of their presence, almost upsetting them. I expected the US to get bronze, so it wasn’t TOO much of a shock.

        and yeah, russia failed something fierce, though I think Varlomov has the blame for that.

    Actually, figure skating was Metallica for about 3 minutes in the short program of some Kazakh couple. They danced to “Nothing Else Matters”. I thought it was great for them to choose something so unorthodox.
