LUDICRA CAN CREATE MAYHEM ON THEIR OWN, THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 at 3:30pm by

Back in January, Mayhem announced a tour with some ridiculously awesome support acts, including Ludicra, Krallice, and Tombs; then, in true Mayhem fashion, they cancelled the tour just a couple of weeks later. And I think pretty much everyone had the same reaction: “Ludicra, Krallice, and Tombs should just tour without Mayhem.” Because it was still an incredibly strong bill even without the black metal legends.

Well, hey, guess what? Ludicra are doing just that! They’ve announced the wittily monikered “De-Cancellation Tour 2010,” which will find Krallice doing even more dates than they were scheduled to play with Mayhem, and even has Tombs tagging along for a handful of shows. Various shows will also feature support from a diverse line-up of other kick-ass bands, including Lair of the Minotaur, Slough Feg, Ocean (not The Ocean, but still a great band), and Kowloon Walled City, so I’d say “To hell with Attila.”

Get dates after the jump. And it’s worth noting that Ludicra’s excellent new record, The Tenant, is available now on Profound Lore Records via the label’s website. Sooner or later I’ll try to write something a little more proper about that album, but for now I’ll just say “Buy it.” It has the MS seal of approval.

Oh look at us we’re big boys now! We’re going to hit all the big venues!!!!

There will definitely be some half full shows on this tour. Never heard of Ludicra but definitely will since I can’t miss Krallice in Boston.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that they’re hitting up all of the big venues. However, they probably won’t fill up the venues that much when Krallice isn’t playing. In Portland, they’re playing at a venue that Wolves in the Throne room headlined last summer, which I don’t believe they sold out. And in the fall of 2008, I believe Ludicra opened up for WITTR. With that said, I have no idea if Ludicra has become much bigger since then.

I wouldn’t say they are big, but they are the kind of band people will drive to see, especially since they don’t tour much at all.

    • stu1

THey’re playing a lot of tiny little dumps, and rooms I’ve never even heard of.

      • RfF

Yes, Ludicra is playing in a tiny ass place in Maine, major respect since no one comes here and I think this band is great, I can’t wait.

  • Chinaski

Gonna be some good shit, that new Ludicra stuff is rippin I tell you

Very much looking forward to this tour.

  • Andy Synn

    I hope they do well.

I just received their self-titled EP through the post and am awaiting The Tenant to be released over here so I can buy myself a copy.

Also, Terrorizer (which has gone downhill imo) does have them as their main review. Good for them.

  • Sophus

Fuuuuuuuuck yes I will be able to see them with Krallice

  • Alex_P

Yeah, this is way better than the tour with Mayhem. I am go.

    • Chris D.

      Backed hard.

  • SxPxDxCx

The Blast O Mat in Denver is far from a big venue

    • sinistatroy

that shits a garage in someone’s backyard

  • Kye

Looks like I’m driving to Virginia since Krallice drops off the tour right before they hit Atlanta.

These definitely aren’t large venues…at least the couple that I know. Geno’s in Portland, ME is a tiny dive bar and Cafe Du Nord is a small (but popular) club in SF that probably maxes out at 200 or so. DNA Lounge in SF is bigger, but still only by a few hundred people.

I’ll be at the Cafe Du Nord show since Kowloon Walled City is opening and I prefer small venues.

I just got my copy of The Tenant today because Profound Lore is selling them early via their webstore. I’ve only heard one track so far and it’s stellar, not to mention the art and packaging that went into this album are worth the purchase. Will definitely try and see them at either DNA or Cafe Du Nord

    • Alex_P

What a kickass record label they have. Everything is specially packaged, with slipcases, hardcovers or digipaks. Not only that, but it’s cheaper in Canada. I am interest.

  • KMFCM

    ugh

    I hate New York

They’re playing at the Hexagon?! What the fuck that’s so awesome!

  • Alfie

Yeah..the Melody Inn holds about 150 tops. They’re really playing concert halls on this tour! Looks like they’re doing it smart to me..
